Schilter's Farm Tour

Today we visited Schilter's Farm with our homeschool friends and had a wonderful time! We started our visit in the twinkle lit hay maze in a huge old barn - from a mom's perspective, it was really neat with the twinkle lights. Even Holly commented on how cool they were in the barn.

After the hay maze the kids all moved over to the animal barn... this part was fantastic! They actually let us all in and out of the animal pens to freely pet and enjoy the baby farm animals. Holly enjoyed a calf, goats, piglets, kittens, farm dog, ponies, chickens and ducks. This portion was great and she found it fantastic to be so up close and personal with the animals.

To finish up we took a tractor hay ride out to the pumpkin fields in search of the perfect pumpkin. It took a bit of time but we finally found a couple that both Holly & Hudson chose. I loved that these pumpkins were still left in their fields - it is so rare around here to actually pick a pumpkin from where it was planted. Typically they are brought int and placed in rows among a dirt field. We took a bit of time to look at the greenery in the patch. Then we were off to play with friends once again! A wonderful field trip to enjoy over the fall season. Soon, we'll be taking a closer look at the pumpkins they picked!
