Today we headed out to the market to see what kinds of apples they had in stock, compared them and chose a new one to try out - a Honey Crisp. It was really good! We also finished reading our library books, discussed the life cycle of an apple tree and created a paper version of the life cycle. Holly also made beaded apples and watched a Scholastic video on the story of Johny Appleseed. It was a very fun and productive day!

Apple Sauce
Today we made homemade apple sauce as part of our apple exploration. Holly & I headed out to pick apples from our apple tree, washed them up, peeled & chopped the apples and then added all the ingredients to cook apple sauce. This was Holly's first time actually helping with making apple sauce and she was amazed at how few ingredients it took and how quick it is to make apple sauce.
We cut up ten apples, added 2/3 cup white sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and 2 cups of water. Cooked it down for about 45 minutes and refrigerated it. Pure goodness!
